A new way of transporting pharmacy products to customers will be tested in Helsinki. In a week-long pilot, selected products of Lauttiksen Apteekki pharmacy, located in Lauttasaari, Helsinki, will be flown by drone, 2km away Jätkäsaari. The aim of the pilot is to gather experiences about the suitability of drones for the transport of pharmacy products and to test a new service concept with real customers.

Flights will take place from 23th to 29th of August. The pharmacy products ordered by the customer are packed in temperature-controlled packaging, which is then flown from Lahnalahdenpuisto in Lauttasaari to Saukontori in Jätkäsaari. The customer can pick up their order from Saukontori, where the drone landing point is located. By limiting the number of deliveries per day to a maximum of 7; subject to weather conditions; the delivery pilot will also ensure that noise levels will not impact the local bird life.

The customers of the pharmacy can order selected pharmacy products by drone delivery from the Lauttiksen Apteekki online store (e-apteekkari.fi). The ordered products are picked up from the drone landing point at Saukontori in Jätkäsaari. More detailed instructions and Pharmacy products within the scope of drone deliveries can be found in the Lauttiksen Apteekki online store (e-apteekkari.fi). Drugs are not delivered in the pilot

Our Flyby Guy, Stephen Sutton will be Pilot in Command for the week long trials, and hopes the trials will be a success, not just by the deliveries, but also by social acceptance from the people living in the area.

Stephen will be flying a DJI M600 for the missions, with a maximum payload of 5kg’s, and will be documenting the missions exclusively on the Flyby Guys YouTube channel.
